FloMag is a mineral made of magnesium oxide. Because it is highly reactive, this media is used most effectively with a starting pH of 4.5 – 6.0, or where high flow conditions are in use. However, because it can neutralize five times as much acidity as calcite on a per weight basis, under low flow conditions Corosex may overcorrect and create a highly basic condition (water over 8.5 pH). Therefore, it is strongly recommended that Corosex is only used when blended with Calcite.
