Why work with us?

We are a family owned and operated full service company, that through years of experience can recognize issues that may need to be addressed. When we see these items, we will inform you of them. In some cases, we will be able to correct them for you, and in others we will recommend an individual or a company that can assist you. This is just another attribute that sets us apart from all the rest.

We do not have either commission based sales or service staff. However, we do have many hours dedicated to educating ourselves to ever changing water tables and technologies as they continue to evolve. Having a Water Quality Association (WQA) Certified Master Water Specialist and Certified Installer on staff, we strive to bring you the latest most efficient methods of correcting the issues that your water may have. The recommendation you receive is based upon the water quality and the intended use of the water, not by an overreaching sales person. We treat you the way we would want to be treated, and that’s why we offer FREE Phone or Internet Quotes and although we would like to sample the water ourselves, we will quote equipment based on a water test results that are supplied to us. This will allow you, the customer, the information needed to make a decision without impacting your work schedule or time from the family.

It is our belief that information is and should be FREE. We welcome all of your questions, as the answers will help you make an informed and educated decision. We believe that helping our customers understand their water issues as they relate to families and lifestyles, helps us determine the best approach to correcting the problem.

A Letter from the Founding Partner

Back in 1974, a friend of mine came up to me and asked me if I could fix his water softener, and I did. Shortly thereafter another friend asked me to do the same. A relative heard me talking about it, and asked if I could install one for him, and I did. I have since realized that those friends and relatives I helped in 1974 were my first customers. I soon took on a partner, and proceeded to get the word out about what it was we were offering: A great product at an affordable price. We knocked on doors, worked nights and weekends, and made ourselves available to our customers when it was most convenient to them. We built this business like we were dealing with friends and family; a name with a face and an understanding of real life concerns.

As a boy, my son William would ride with me on Saturdays, helping out and cleaning up. As he grew up he has become more of an integral part of the business. In the early nineties, my partner retired from the business, and my son, just out of college, came on board as my partner. That was the first year our business ever appeared in the yellow pages. Until then our growth relied on word of mouth and door-to-door sales.

The past 27 years have seen many exciting changes to our business model. Our first website launched in 2006 helping us let the consumer be aware of the water conditioning options they have in the Hudson Valley and surrounding counties. We have continued to expand our product lines to meet the needs of the area, as well as continuing our education in the water industry. Throughout all of the growth, and the ever-changing landscape of the business world, we always keep our eyes focused on what brought us here — delivering an excellent product at an affordable price, while accommodating our customers’ needs as if they were family.

That is what we would like to pass on to our customers… the trust, the quality and the experience of two generations.

Since my family and I moved to Dutchess County 16 years ago, we’ve lived in two houses, both equipped with Ideal Water softeners. Not once during those 16 years has either unit given us any problem or otherwise required any repair. Needless to say, the quality of Ideal Water’s equipment is, in my eyes, outstanding. I liked the amount of information I was able to obtain from Felix. We have water softener for 3 weeks now... Getting the Ideal Water, water softener was a great decision for us. They were able to deliver and perform the work to hook up the unit within 24 hour notice. They were very informative and answered all of my questions. Will from Ideal Water was over my house this morning to install our new water softener. Will was right on time, 8am as promised. He was courteous and professional. The workspace wasn't exactly conventional however the installation was still quick and painless (about 90 minutes) Will took special care to be sure that it wasn't too messy when the water drained from the pipes; in fact my daughter makes a bigger mess on bath night!! My wife called me at 9:30am and said that she already felt a huge difference in the water texture. Difficult to describe, just different! We had previously called “brand x” for a quote and although we didn't encounter any problems with them, we just felt more comfortable contracting a specialist as opposed to a generalist. In fact, when you boil it down, the specialist vs. generalist issue was the most important issue to me and my wife. The fact that the price was 30% LOWER with Ideal Water was just icing on the cake, we would have used their services even if the price was higher!

My wife and I spoke to Felix at a Home Show. He was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. We decided that if we ever needed a water system he would be the person doing the installation. We installed a new water system in January of 2007, it was a great investment!! Our water is potable, and everything is so much cleaner (dishes, clothes). After showering our hair feels lighter and cleaner. There is no residue, or odor. We are extremely satisfied with our new system.

"We moved into a new house in November - 2003 and immediately contacted Ideal Water for a possible installation of a water treatment system. While discussing where the system would be situated, Mr. Zykoff noticed an area in the basement that was not completely sealed to the outside under an overhang. (The builder immediately corrected the situation in that and one other area.) We contracted with Ideal Water for a water softener and an RO (reverse osmosis) system.
